It's not always necessary for you to reciprocate when treated to a meal
DEAR RHONA: I have been invited to fancy lunches or dinners a few times this year by people I do business with: my investment banker, my lawyer and a realtor who sold my house. I know this is a silly question -- but do I assume that each of these people will pick up the tab, or should I offer to pay my share? It isn't always clear as to the intent of the person asking. All these nice people are wonderful to deal with -- and they make money from their association with me. So the next part is -- am I expected to reciprocate if I have been treated to a meal?¬ I am on a limited budget. What's the rule here? -- Wallet In My Lap Updated 2:00 AM
