A new community health service centre is planned for St. James, the province announced today.
The new ACCESS health centre, bundling different health services under one roof, will be the fourth in the city.
There is no word yet on an exact location or when the health centre will open.
It will offer mental health and counselling, child daycare, outreach, and employment and income assistance, among other services.
The first ACCESS centre was opened in 2004 in River East. Another was opened in Transcona last year and a third in the Northwest region is in development.
The St. James centre was developed through Manitoba Health, Manitoba Family Services and Housing, and the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority.
Winnipeggers who want to know more can visit two public information sessions:
Wednesday, Sept. 17, 7 p.m., Health and Social Services Office, 3401 Roblin Blvd.
Wednesday, Sept. 24, 7 p.m., Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Dr.
A site selection and a plan for construction will come after the public consultations.
